Comet and MediaFusion instances compared
Every public Comet instance runs the same open-source Comet, and every public MediaFusion instance runs the same open-source MediaFusion. The instances differ in uptime and in who runs them. Both tables rank them by uptime, measured by an independent monitor.
Uptime comes from the IbbyLabs Uptime Tracker, which checks every instance on the same schedule. We don't run it. The tables refresh every time this site is rebuilt.

Which one should you use?
For trying either addon, pick an instance near the top of its table. Most setups run Comet and MediaFusion side by side, often inside AIOStreams, so a gap in one is covered by the other. If you'd rather not share limits with everyone else, use your own instance.
Is Comet or MediaFusion down?
Each instance runs separately, so one being down says nothing about the others. To check yours:
- Look at its status. ElfHosted's instances are on status.elfhosted.com. The IbbyLabs tracker shows every public instance at once.
- Open its manifest in a browser, for example
https://comet.elfhosted.com/manifest.jsonorhttps://mediafusion.elfhosted.com/manifest.json. A page of text means the instance is up. - If it's up but nothing plays, the cause is usually the debrid account. What our public addon messages mean covers the messages you might see instead of a film.
Why a private instance
Public instances are shared, so their limits and busy evenings are shared too, and help comes from whoever is around in a community channel. A private ElfHosted instance is yours alone, with our support team and Sam, the assistant in your dashboard, when something goes wrong.
- Private Comet, with Debridge: Debridge aggregates your own debrid and Usenet providers, finds the best result and delivers it.
- Private MediaFusion, with Debridge: the same Debridge aggregation, with MediaFusion's catalogues and regional coverage.

A public instance is a good way to try an addon, and self-hosting suits people who like running servers. A private instance is for when the whole household relies on it and you want someone to call when it breaks.

Frequently asked questions
Is Comet down?
Check the instance you use, not Comet as a whole: each public instance runs separately. ElfHosted's is on status.elfhosted.com, and the IbbyLabs tracker shows every public Comet instance. Opening https://comet.elfhosted.com/manifest.json in a browser is a quick test: a page of text means it is up. See Is Comet or MediaFusion down?
Is MediaFusion down?
The same check works: look at the instance's status page or the IbbyLabs tracker, or open https://mediafusion.elfhosted.com/manifest.json in a browser. If one instance is down, another from the table keeps you watching.
Are Comet and MediaFusion free?
Yes. Both are free, open-source addons, and every public instance on this page is free to use, ElfHosted's included. To get streams you also need a debrid service or a Usenet provider, which are paid. A private ElfHosted Comet or MediaFusion instance costs $9 a month after a $1, 7-day trial, with Debridge and bundled TorBox and Usenet accounts included, so you don't need a provider of your own to start.
Should I use Comet or MediaFusion?
Many people use both. Comet is lightweight and quick, and focuses on finding debrid-cached results. MediaFusion casts a wider net, with its own catalogues and strong coverage of non-English and regional content. Putting both inside AIOStreams gives you one combined list, and a gap in one is covered by the other.
Is Comet better than Torrentio?
They do a similar job. Torrentio is one public service, run by its developer. Comet is software anyone can run, so there are several public instances to choose from, and if one is down you can switch to another. Many setups use Comet alongside Torrentio, or as its replacement inside AIOStreams.
What is Comet Midnight (ForTheWeebs)?
It is MidnightIgnite's public Comet instance, at cometfortheweebs.midnightignite.me. MidnightIgnite runs MediaFusion, AIOStreams and AIOMetadata instances under the same name.
What is MediaFusion Midnight?
It is MidnightIgnite's public MediaFusion instance, at mediafusionfortheweebs.midnightignite.me. Its uptime is in the table above.
Which Comet instance does the Comet developer run?
g0ldy, who writes Comet, runs the instance at comet.feels.legal. It is in the Comet table above.
