Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: 19 Dec 2025

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") forms part of the Terms of Service and No-Reselling Policy. ElfHosted provides consumer-grade application hosting infrastructure only—we do not supply, curate, or manage content. By using ElfHosted, you agree to abide by the rules below and any other guidance communicated by our team.

Reminder: ElfHosted is for personal, household use. Running commercial workloads, reselling seats, or operating services for others is prohibited unless we provide written authorization.

Prohibited content & activities

You may not use ElfHosted services to publish, transmit, store, or facilitate content or activities that:

Illegal or harmful content

  • Constitutes child sexual abuse material;
  • Is excessively violent, incites violence, threatens violence, or contains harassing content or hate speech;
  • Is defamatory, violates privacy rights, or creates risk to personal or public safety;
  • Promotes illegal drugs, illegal gambling, or illegal weapons trafficking;
  • Is otherwise illegal or solicits conduct that is illegal under applicable laws.

Intellectual property infringement

  • Infringes copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, or other intellectual property rights;
  • Is intended to defeat technical copyright protections or security controls;
  • Involves unauthorized distribution, reproduction, or public performance of protected works.

You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate rights, licenses, or permissions for all content you store, transmit, or access through the service. ElfHosted responds to valid copyright infringement notices under our Notice & Takedown policy.

Deceptive or fraudulent activity

  • Is unfair or deceptive under consumer protection laws, including chain letters and pyramid schemes;
  • Improperly exposes trade secrets or confidential information;
  • Is malicious, fraudulent, or designed to deceive users.

Network & security abuse

You may not engage in network abuse, including but not limited to:

  • Denial-of-service attacks, credential stuffing, phishing, scanning, or vulnerability testing without authorization;
  • Unauthorized access to data, systems, or networks;
  • Monitoring traffic or data without authorization from the system owner;
  • Use of accounts or systems without owner authorization;
  • Conduct likely to result in retaliation against ElfHosted's network;
  • Excessive automation, bulk unsolicited messaging, or bandwidth abuse beyond your plan's intended scope;
  • Hosting or distributing malware, command-and-control infrastructure, botnet control, or crypto-mining;
  • Running open proxies or VPN resale nodes without authorization.

Harassment & abuse

ElfHosted does not tolerate harassment, threats, or abusive behavior toward our staff, contractors, or other users. You agree to conduct yourself professionally in all communications. Violations may result in immediate service suspension or termination without notice or refund.

Fair use of shared resources

Resource limits

ElfHosted's shared infrastructure depends on fair usage. If you consume excessive resources (CPU, RAM, disk, network, GPU) in a way that degrades other users' experience, we may throttle, restart, isolate, or migrate your workload without notice. Unsupported scripts or actions that continuously consume disproportionate resources may trigger warnings; failure to remediate can lead to service suspension or termination. 4K transcoding on shared GPUs is prohibited unless explicitly included in your plan.

Security requirements

You must take reasonable security precautions: keep credentials secure, rotate them periodically, and enable multi-factor authentication where offered. You are responsible for all actions taken under your account, including those by unauthorized users due to weak passwords or credential reuse.

Enforcement & remediation

Violation process

When we identify an AUP or Terms of Service violation, our standard process is to contact you via email (from legal@elfhosted.com or our helpdesk). The notice will specify: * The nature of the violation * Required remediation steps * Timeframe for acknowledgment (typically 24 hours) * Timeframe for remediation (typically 24-48 hours depending on severity)

Failure to respond within the stated timeframe may result in automatic suspension.

Suspension & termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts with or without notice at our discretion, particularly for violations that: * Endanger the platform or other customers * Expose ElfHosted to legal or regulatory risk * Represent egregious or repeat violations

You remain responsible for all fees through the date of suspension and waive any claims arising from protective actions taken in good faith. We have no obligation to retain or return data from services disabled for cause.

Reporting & cooperation

We may share relevant logs or account details with upstream providers, payment processors, or law enforcement when required by law or to resolve abusive activity. To report abuse or security issues, see the Abuse Policy.

Customer responsibilities

You must maintain current contact information for violation notices. You are solely responsible for backing up your data independently—ElfHosted is not liable for data loss resulting from service suspension or termination for cause.

Disclaimer

ElfHosted is under no duty to monitor or police customer activities and disclaims responsibility for any misuse of our services. This AUP provides examples of prohibited conduct but is not exhaustive—we reserve full discretion in interpreting and enforcing these policies to protect the platform and our users.
