How to switch your subscription

To upgrade, downgrade, or move to a different product, switch your existing subscription rather than buying a new one. Your setup carries over, and the price difference is prorated.

Switching

  1. Open My Account, then Subscriptions
  2. Open the subscription you want to change
  3. Click Change subscription, next to the product name
  4. You land on a page listing what you can switch to (Personal Media Stacks have their own "Switch your Personal Media Stack" page). Pick the new product. For products that offer billing terms, click Choose billing term to go to that product's page
  5. On the product page, the Billing term dropdown is set to your current term. Keep it, or pick a different one (see change your billing term)
  6. Add it to your cart and check out

You're on a trial? Upgrading works the same way: switch the trial subscription.

What you pay

Switching is prorated: at checkout you're charged, or credited, the difference for the rest of your current period.

If you keep your current term, the new product bills at the same cadence. If you pick a different term, it applies from your next renewal, with the rest of the current period prorated at checkout.

If you're on a longer term and the product you're switching to doesn't offer a term of the same length, the switch is refused with a notice explaining why.

What carries over

  • Your setup is kept. Upgrading from one stack to a larger one keeps your apps and their configuration.
  • Apps the new product doesn't include go away. For example, switching a media stack from one debrid provider to another removes the apps that belonged to the old one. On media stacks, your library symlinks are kept separately, so they survive the switch.

After switching

Your apps are updated automatically. New apps usually take about 10 to 15 minutes to appear. If nothing has changed after about 20 minutes, ask in Discord (#elf-help) with your order number.

Boosters

Boosters are switched by our team, not from your account. Buy the Switch your Booster product, then open a ticket in Discord and we'll make the change.

Cancelling instead

Cancelling is separate from switching: open the subscription and choose Cancel. It takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for. See the pricing page for details.
