How to change your billing term

Most ElfHosted subscriptions can be billed monthly, or up front for a longer term at a discount. You can change the term of an existing subscription yourself, from your account.

Terms and discounts

On most products, the terms are:

Term Discount
Monthly (standard price)
3 months 5% off
6 months 10% off
12 months 20% off

Some products have different discounts. The Billing term dropdown on each product shows the price and the saving for every term before anything goes in your cart, so that's the figure that applies.

A longer term is billed up front, and renews at the same term. You can cancel at any time and keep access to the end of what you've paid for.

Discounts don't stack

If you also have a membership rate, you get the single best discount, not both added together.

Changing the term

  1. Open My Account, then Subscriptions
  2. Open the subscription you want to change
  3. Click Change billing term (the button also shows your current term, for example "currently monthly")
  4. The product page opens, with the Billing term dropdown set to your current term. Pick the term you want: each option shows its price, and longer terms show their saving, e.g. (save 20%)
  5. Add it to your cart and check out

When the new term starts

The new term applies from your next renewal. The rest of your current period is prorated at checkout, so you pay or are credited the difference for the time that's left.

If you're already on a longer term and keep the same term, the change stays at that cadence.

If you don't see the button

The Change billing term button only shows on a subscription that:

  • is active
  • has one product on it
  • is for a product that offers billing terms
