TorBox on ElfHosted

ElfHosted has deep TorBox integration across both Stremio addons and full media-server stacks. Several of our Stremio addon plans and personal media stacks include a bundled TorBox subscription, so you get one ElfHosted subscription, one bill, and one $1, 7-day trial covering both the app and the debrid account behind it.

What is TorBox?

TorBox is a debrid service in the same product category as Real-Debrid: it resolves torrents to instant HTTP streams, with no local seeding or downloading required. Stremio addons (and our CatBox shim for Plex / Jellyfin / Emby) query TorBox for cached content, get back a streaming URL, and your client plays it directly.

TorBox sells two consumer tiers:

  • TorBox Essential is the debrid-only tier, the right choice for Stremio addon use, and what most of our bundled plans include.
  • TorBox Pro adds Usenet support and other extras. Bundled with some plans where it makes sense; see the Usenet caveat in the FAQ below.

TorBox-bundled plans on ElfHosted

The biggest reason to pick TorBox-bundled over BYO Real-Debrid: you don't need to buy and manage a separate debrid subscription. Pick any of these and the TorBox account is included on the same monthly bill, with the same $1, 7-day trial:

Plan Best for
AIOStreams + TorBox Most users. Meta-addon with broad coverage and our recommended pick on the Stremio Addons Guide.
Comet + TorBox Lightweight and fast, with built-in proxy streaming for multi-IP use without account-sharing flags.
MediaFusion + TorBox Power users and multilingual households (Indian, Spanish, French, German, East Asian content) who want fine-grained filtering.
MediaStorm + TorBox Native mobile and TV clients without Stremio in the loop.
Jellygoblin Jellyfin + Gelato + TorBox. Real media-server experience, Gelato-managed.
Plex / Jellyfin / Emby + Radarr/Sonarr + TorBox Full media-server library with an Arrs stack, via CatBox. See the TorBox + a real media server section below.

TorBox vs Real-Debrid

Both work. Pick TorBox-bundled if you don't already have a debrid subscription (one bill instead of two), if you want a debrid alternative for redundancy, or if you're already a TorBox subscriber. Pick BYO Real-Debrid if you already have a long-standing Real-Debrid subscription you're happy with.

The cache profiles differ โ€” Real-Debrid and TorBox build their caches independently, so a release cached on one isn't necessarily cached on the other. Power users sometimes run both for the broadest cache coverage; most users pick one.

Setup walkthrough

  1. Pick a bundled plan. AIOStreams + TorBox is the right starting point for most users.
  2. Start the $1, 7-day trial. ElfHosted provisions the addon and activates your bundled TorBox account in minutes; no separate TorBox signup needed.
  3. Open the addon's /configure page from your apps dashboard and pick filters / source addons.
  4. Copy the install URL and paste it into Stremio. Search for content and start streaming.

If you'd rather BYO TorBox, subscribe to the non-bundled version of the addon and configure your own TorBox API key in the addon's configure page.

TorBox + Plex / Emby / Jellyfin via CatBox

For a real Plex / Jellyfin / Emby library backed by TorBox, the supported path on ElfHosted is CatBox, our lazy-materialize TorBox shim. CatBox plays the role Decypharr plays for Real-Debrid, but with a different design: it exposes a qBittorrent-API-compatible interface to Radarr / Sonarr, serves synthetic / crowdsourced probe data to the media server (so library scans don't touch TorBox), and only materializes content into your TorBox account at playback time, removing it again afterwards.

CatBox is the only safe path for TorBox + a large media-server library

TorBox's policy prohibits automated tools from artificially keeping items in a user's library beyond 30 days. Media-server probing (codecs, resolution, runtime, thumbnails) would extend retention and trigger that policy. CatBox solves this with a virtual-library design (items aren't added to TorBox until you press play) and pseudo / crowdsourced probe data (probes against virtual files return synthetic or community-captured metadata, never re-fetching from TorBox).

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an existing TorBox subscription before subscribing to an ElfHosted bundle?

No. The bundled plans include a TorBox subscription as part of the ElfHosted plan. You don't sign up at TorBox separately and you don't pay TorBox separately.

Can I use my own existing TorBox account instead of the bundled one?

Yes. Subscribe to the non-bundled version of the addon and configure your own TorBox API key in the addon's configure page. You won't get the bundled-TorBox discount but the addon works the same way.

Is the bundled TorBox the Essential or Pro tier?

It depends on the bundle. Most addon-bundled plans include TorBox Essential, which is the right tier for Stremio addon use. Some larger bundles include TorBox Pro. The store product page for each bundle calls out which tier is included.

Will TorBox work across multiple devices and IPs?

TorBox uses a slot-based model rather than a strict IP limit: you can use it from multiple devices, but a finite number of streams can be active at once depending on your tier. For multi-IP use without account-sharing flags, Comet's built-in proxy streaming or Mediaflow-Proxy (with AIOStreams) routes all stream requests through one ElfHosted-side IP.

What happens to my TorBox account if I cancel my ElfHosted subscription?

The bundled TorBox subscription is tied to the ElfHosted plan. Cancelling the ElfHosted subscription ends the bundled TorBox subscription. To keep TorBox after leaving ElfHosted, sign up for TorBox directly at torbox.app.

Can I migrate an existing BYO TorBox account into a bundled plan?

The two are separately billed; the bundled plan can't transfer or absorb your existing TorBox subscription. Most users either cancel the BYO subscription and let the bundled one take over, or keep the BYO subscription and use the non-bundled addon plan.

Should I use TorBox Pro Usenet for Stremio?

TorBox Pro includes Usenet support, but its Usenet implementation downloads-first-then-streams rather than streaming articles on demand. That's fine for batch downloading, but doesn't fit Stremio's just-press-play workflow. For Usenet + Stremio, the right ElfHosted path is NzbDAV-backed addons: UsenetStreamer, Usenet-Ultimate, or NzbDAV directly (also used by the Plex / Jellyfin / Emby + Usenet + Arrs guides).

Are there TorBox bundles for Plex or Emby?

Yes. ElfHosted offers TorBox-bundled personal media stacks for Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby, all using CatBox for the lazy-materialize integration. See the Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby TorBox guides.
