Support
Need help? Start with Sam, the assistant built into your own dashboard. He can see your actual apps, so he sorts a lot of things on the spot. When you want a human, that's what Discord is for.
1. Ask Sam, in your dashboard
Sam lives in your ElfHosted dashboard: click Ask Sam, and ask in plain language (any language). Unlike a general chatbot, he goes and looks at your real stack instead of guessing, which makes him the quickest first step for things like:
- "Which of my apps are running?" or "Is Plex healthy?"
- "Why isn't my Sonarr downloading?" (he checks its health, queue and logs, and tells you the actual reason)
- "What's using up my storage?"
- "How do I set up X?" (he answers from these docs, and links you the page)
Sam can fix things too: restarting an app, kicking off a search, clearing a stuck download, tidying up broken symlinks. Anything that changes something waits for you to confirm it first, so nothing happens behind your back.
He only ever sees your own apps, and your secrets are stripped out before anything reaches the AI. The full detail of what is and isn't shared is in our privacy notice.
If Sam can't get you there, he'll point you at the humans below.
2. Join Discord
If you're not already in the ElfHosted Discord:
- Open discord.elfhosted.com
- Accept the invite and sign in with your Discord account
- Read the welcome / rules prompts so the support channels become visible
Once you're in, use the option below which best matches what you need.
3. Pick the right support channel
Support options are sorted below
in terms of how quickly you'll usually get a response:
| Response | Resource |
Instant, and it can see your stack | Ask Sam in your own dashboard (see above). He's the only one here who can look at your actual apps. |
Instant | Ask the AI to parse our docs and spit out the answer, in the #elf-ai-rtfm channel. |
Quick | Direct your question to the helpful humans in #elf-friends - there's normally experienced users around willing to help if you frame a question like "Where do I find.. ?", or "How do I add ...?" |
Self-paced | Check the docs for the particular app you need help with |
Be patient | Create an #elf-help ticket for private support |
