SuperBookWorm Bundle

The SuperBookWorm Bundle is every format in one subscription: ebooks, audiobooks, comics, manga and anime metadata. It combines the apps from the eBookWorm, AudioBookWorm, StoryBookWorm and ComicBookWorm bundles, on one set of shared storage.

Because every app sees the same storage at the same paths, you manage one library with a folder per format, rather than three or four separate setups that can't see each other's files.

When does the SuperBookWorm Bundle make sense?

  • Your household reads in every format: one person on audiobooks, another on manga, another on a Kobo.
  • You want read-along books (Storyteller) and comics, which no smaller bundle has together.
  • You'd rather have every app available and use the ones you need, than pick a bundle now and change later.

How the apps fit together

Every app mounts your own cloud storage at /storage/rclone/<mount>/ (attached with magic mounting) and the bundle's working space at /storage/symlinks/. A layout that keeps every app in agreement:

Folder Filed by Read by
/storage/symlinks/audiobooks Chaptarr (its default Audiobooks root folder), AudioBookRequest and the audiobook search tools Audiobookshelf, Storyteller, BookOrbit
/storage/symlinks/books or /storage/rclone/<mount>/books Chaptarr (its default eBooks root folder is the first), Shelfmark Grimmory, BookOrbit
/cwa-book-ingest/ in Shelfmark Shelfmark Calibre-Web, which imports and then deletes the file
/bookorbit-bookdock in Shelfmark Shelfmark BookOrbit's Book Dock, where you confirm each match
/storage/rclone/<mount>/comics Kapowarr Komga, Kavita, BookOrbit
/storage/rclone/<mount>/anime You Shoko, and through it your media server

How do I use it?

The steps are the same as in the smaller bundles, so this page points you to them rather than repeating them.

  1. Attach your storage with magic mounting and create books, comics and (if you use Shoko) anime folders.
  2. Claim every app with its own login as soon as your bundle is ready: Audiobookshelf, Storyteller, Grimmory, BookOrbit, Komga, Kavita and Shoko ask for an admin account on first use, and Calibre-Web starts with its factory admin login, whose password you should change straight away (e-reader apps refuse the factory password). Storyteller also wants its own STORYTELLER_SECRET_KEY before you create its account; see below.
  3. Audiobooks: create the Audiobookshelf library and connect Chaptarr, as in the AudioBookWorm steps.
  4. Read-along books: put each EPUB beside its audio and add a Storyteller watch rule, as in the StoryBookWorm steps.
  5. Ebooks: point Grimmory, BookOrbit and Shelfmark at your books folder, as in the eBookWorm steps.
  6. Comics and anime: point Komga, Kavita and Kapowarr at your comics folder, and Shoko at your anime folder, as in the ComicBookWorm steps.
Quick-paste into Storyteller's environment variables using ElfBot
STORYTELLER_SECRET_KEY=<your string here>

Generate the value with a password generator or openssl rand -base64 32, and set it with ElfBot before creating Storyteller's admin account.

How do I access it?

Everything is on your dashboard at https://your-username.elfhosted.com. The apps you'll connect devices to:

The rest follow the same pattern, for example https://your-username-chaptarr.elfhosted.com.

The addresses above show the general pattern. Sign in and these become your personal, clickable links.

What it doesn't do

  • No books, comics or anime are included. Bring your own, or connect providers and accounts of your own.
  • No media server is included. Shoko improves the metadata in a Plex, Jellyfin or Emby server you already run.
  • Storage is yours to attach, and with every format in one place a large library belongs on your own cloud storage.
  • The readers keep separate libraries. Several apps can read the same folder, but reading progress and shelves stay in the app where you made them.
  • Not one login for everything. The apps you read, listen and watch from keep their own accounts.

How do I get support?

  1. Each app's own page (linked above) covers it in more detail, along with its upstream project's documentation.
  2. For your ElfHosted setup, see the ElfHosted support options.
